Day 2

Last night while we were getting tanked on Chug, Max was telling me about a miner nearby that needed some help getting something out of one of the abandoned cole mines.

Max:

"Yeah, there's an old miner that lives by the abandoned mines. He's a squirly little guy and extremely clumbsy. I've seen a bunch of old Jeeps wrecked and I hear that they were his. One story in particular that I heard said that he broke into the mines a few years back and while taking the elevator to Mine A, dropped a cup of hot coffee in his lap, hit the gas pedal and almost died."
"He then had to climb all the way down the rails and some how survived."

Warrior:

"laughs* "So he's like a cat? Got nine lives?"

Max:

"No doubt. You haven't even heard the half of it. I've talked to the guy myself and he was pretty weird. I think he's taken to many knocks on the mellon."

"Another time, he was driving on the canyon ledge and decided to change the radio station. When he did, he took his eyes off the path and fell head first into the mud below."

"Anyway, the guy makes me uneasy but I do feel sorry for him. I'm sure if you help him out, he'll give you somthing for your time."

Warrior:

"Ok Max, I'll go and see what he needs. I'm not sure when I'll be back but hopefully before it's time to finish off the rest of that keg."

"Later Max!"

Max:

"Adios machacho!"

I got my gear ready and headed off to find the miner.

Objective 1

I finally found the miner's house and made the treacherous drive across the rocky pass to the front door. The miner stood there waving from the front door.

I pulled up and talked to the miner.

Miner:

"Hey pal! What are you doing around these parts?"

Warrior:

"I was out cruising and my friend told me that you needed help with somthing."

Miner:

That's a 10-4 there pal. I was a coal miner for 20 years before the parks department shut down the mine after a major collapse in the lower section of Mine A. After they shut down the mines, I couldn't help myself but to return to the mines for old times sakes."

"One day after I broke into Mine B, I accidently drove off the mine tracks and fell 30 ft into a hole. Since I couldn't get my Jeep out in one piece, I left it there and climbed out. Once I was out, I realized that I had left my miner's pic in the mine. Unfortunantely, I'm getting too old to try and break in again."

"If you don't mind, can you retrieve the pic for me?"

Warrior:

"Sure bro! I'll try and get it for you!"

Miner:

"Ok, first thing you'll need to do is find away into Mine B. The entrance has been boarded up but there have been some lumber jacks working here recently. Maybe you can find a chainsaw you can use."

I set off to see if I could find a chainsaw or somthing to cut those boards with.

After a few hours, I happened to pass by a stack of logs and there sat a chainsaw just waiting for me.

I got out and picked up the chainsaw.

Objective 2

After getting the chainsaw, I headed over to Mine B and cut the boards down.

Once inside, I found the miner's pic and managed to escape in one piece.

Objective 3

After retrieving the pic, I took it back to the miner who was waiting there eagerly anticipating the return of his precious.

Miner:

"Woohoo, you found it!"

"Since you helped me out, I'm going to give you the minecar brake lever that will give you elevator access to the upper half of Mine A.

Be careful though, that area is like a maze so it's easy to get lost or fall. There's an office deep in the upper half of Mine A so if you get there, you might find some things of interest!"

Warrior:

"It was no big deal partner. Just make sure and stay out of trouble!"

Miner:

"I'll do that! Stop by if you ever need anything!"

I was very uneasy around the guy so I had no plans on coming back here. He seemed a bit familiar but I couldn't place his face so I went on about my way and headed back to the cabin.
